A Character Breakdown

 Good Evening Blog!

With developing our plot for our film opening, comes developing our characters more in depth as well and this post will be all about that!

When it comes to characters, we have three total: two police officers and one criminal. We are almost 100% sure we will not need any extras or supporting characters. This will allow the audience to be able to focus on our main characters and be able to understand their traits in a pretty detailed manner. We have not come up with names yet but will update as soon as we do! As for general ages of our characters, the three of them will generally be around the same age and all be pretty young. Since in reality, teenagers will most likely be playing these characters, we want the age of the character to make sense realistically.

Police Officer #1

This police officer will be played by a female. She will have a very strict, no funny-business personality. She takes her job very seriously as she knows it can be taken away at any given moment. She sticks to what she is told and doesn't stray from direction she is given from those in higher positions. Long-term, her goal would be to be promoted within the police force. Because of this, she knows she really can't mess around. She is very caring when she needs to be, but feels that it isn't necessary to show this side of her or let other people know that she is actually capable of being nice until she absolutely has to. She prefers to be taken seriously so of course, she takes her job seriously. She is unintentionally funny in the way that she is so sarcastic at times that she will bring comedic relief to situations without trying to do so. She often judges people too quickly and never lets her guard down, making her a pretty good cop, but not too good of a person. Her personality would easily be able to be compared to a character like Emily Prentiss from Criminal Minds, April Ludgate from Parks and Recreation, Gracie Heart from Miss Congeniality, or Officer Cooper from Hot Pursuit

Police Officer #2

This police officer will also be played by a female. She will essentially be police officer #1's complete opposite. Nothing about them will seem to be similar besides the fact that they have the same job. This character will be much easier to love by the audience because she will be much more bubbly. In contrast to always sticking to the rules, she will tend to make sacrifices when she feels necessary to help the good. Because of these morals she has, she will often go off regulation to do what she feels is right whether or not she was actually supposed to do that. She loves her job and holds it with pride but doesn't seem to be "good at it" from the eyes of police officer #1. This police officer is very extra, in the sense that she is very decorative and almost childlike. Sometimes she gets scared and likes to make jokes to ease the tension of the situations she tends to find herself in. She can be seen as similar to characters such as a Penelope Garcia from Criminal Minds, Leslie Knope from Parks and Recreation, Judy Hopps from Zootopia, and a Winston Bishop or Jessica Day from New Girl

Criminal

Our criminal will most likely be played by a female although there is a small chance, they might be played by a male. Our criminal will have a very deadpan sense of humour, similar to police officer number one. They will be very straight up, blunt, and honest about everything they do to the point where people don't think that they are being serious. They act as if they have better things to do than be sitting in an interrogation room, being questioned by police officers. They act as if the two police officers are inconveniencing them although they put themselves in this situation by committing the crime to begin with. This character can easily be compared to a character like Deadpool from Deadpool, Cat Adams from Criminal Minds, Agatha Harkness from Wanda Vision, Francis Munch from Mr. Right, or Emily Nelson in A Simple Favor

In future posts, I will focus more on the character appearance, makeup, hair, and wardrobe once we cast actors to play them and physically bring them to life! Until then, only their personalities are existent. I specifically developed these characters the way I did to add dimension to their traits and further develop relationships between all of the characters. The way that these characters will interact with each other will give the audience an idea of how their relationships with progress throughout the movie.
